this is something as rare as a brief ode to the weather, which has been surprisingly lovely recently!

autumn here tends to be a blip sandwiched between frequently-warm September and suddenly-freezing (literally) October, but for the past couple weeks we've had some beautiful clear days in the 10 to 15 degree range, and i'm crossing everything i've got that it'll last a bit longer. when i finally dragged myself out of the house this afternoon the forecast said "11°C, feels like 10°C" and i was able to wear my tweed jacket with slacks and a jumper (i love that jacket, but it almost never gets an outing, because see above).

all the trees in the parking lot outside of work have turned canary yellow except for the very youngest, and the walk to the grocery store is becoming increasingly speckled with orange as well. i got off the tram one stop early on my way home from the shops to walk the last stretch, and one of the neighbours had got their fireplace going, so the whole neighbourhood smelled like winter.

i'd honestly been kinda worried i'd have to be dragged kicking and screaming into autumn this year, because our summer was pretty dismal, but right now i'm feeling pretty happy about it.
