Summary:

Childermass did not look noticeably better than he had that morning. In fact, thought Mr Segundus as Childermass crossed his threshold for the second time that day and shut the door behind him, he looked rather worse.

In which Childermass returns to Starecross Hall after the disappearance of Hurtfew, and two very tired magicians share a moment of peace (and also sandwiches).

this is my first fic in the JS&MN fandom, and the whole time i was writing it i was essentially thinking of it as a trial run, like the fanfic equivalent of a kiddie bike with training wheels. as i say in the tags, it's basically five tropes in a trenchcoat (or a greatcoat if you will), but i had a lot of fun writing it, and i'm actually really excited to have written something for this fandom for the first time!
